We call this doe "Big B"
which stands for Big Black.
Big B was originally purchased as a
milk doe with 1 week old
kids
on her side. This of course made training for becoming a
milker
less than an easy task. The doe was an exceptionally
wonderful mother before having her kids taken from her. Big B
HAS
been milked by hand and via a hand pump milking device. Stats
were not kept on milk amounts so that information is unfortunately not
available. Big B had a GORGEOUS udder, soft & supple
too,
last year- we expect the same this year.
We have more in this doe than we are asking. We simply want
to
recoup as much of our expenses as we can. We
need to reduce our herd size some and this doe is slated to sell
as a result-but we are not interested in sending her to the sale barn
to do this.
We originally bred this doe to a very young Lamancha buck, but later
determined she had not settled. She has since been bred to a Boer
buck, Fandango, in order to get her freshened for 2010. Big B is due to kid in May 2010.
We really like this doe and she has come a long way with regard to her
affection for humans-being dam raised and unhandled before our purchase
of her she is not bottle baby tame. However, she is showing her
sweet side of late and we like what we see. We think that when
she freshens, she will bond with her new owner and be every bit of the
sweetheart we see she has the potential to be.
